Paper mache Minions

Everywhere is minion crazy at the minute. Every shop I go into has some sort of merchandise covered in minions. I myself will admit I have a minion teddy and pj’s.
Kids love minions so we set a challenge to make some from paper mâché. I think they turned out quite good and the kids loved showing them off.

To make the arms we took two strips of yellow paper and Folded them up crossing each other to give nice bouncy stretchy arms. To put the arms on we used Velcro to make them more secure, but you could always staple or glue on.

To make the minion shape we used two balloons and tied them together in the middle, this part was a little tricky.
Next was the fun part, getting messy and putting on the paper mâché. We used two layers of newspaper, using big pieces to bridge the gap between the balloons and create a nice oval shape. We then did one/two layers using yellow paper. This works much better then painting giving a nice smooth finish and helps to keep the structure.

Once dry we glued on some cut up blue paper shaped like dungarees and some minion eyes and mouths.
